Ingredients:
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp hot water
1/2 tsp salt
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup caramel bits
Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
Dissolve baking soda in hot water, then add to the batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and caramel bits until just combined.
Drop dough by spoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet, and sprinkle with a pinch of flaky sea salt.
Bake for 10 minutes or until edges are golden but centers remain soft. Cool on wire racks.
