Rich and Velvety Homemade Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
¾ cup white sugar
1 pinch salt
⅓ cup boiling water
3 ½ cups milk
¾ teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup half-and-half cream
Directions:

In a medium saucepan, combine cocoa powder, sugar, and salt. Stir in boiling water until smooth. Place the pan over medium heat and bring the mixture to an easy boil while stirring continuously. Allow it to boil for about 2 minutes without stirring to intensify the flavors.
Pour in the milk and heat until very hot, but do not boil. Remove from heat and add vanilla extract.
Divide between four mugs. Add the half-and-half cream to each mug for a richer, creamier hot cocoa experience.
